Volunteers

Volunteers are the life blood of every sport and recreation organisation in Australia. They dedicate hours of time and energy every year, working in a variety of ways, completing many necessary tasks. Without these people sport and recreation organisations would cease to exist.

Volunteers are extremely valuable, deserving considerable praise and public recognition. Sadly, they seldom receive such rewards. Whilst the media and public pay tribute to elite sport and recreation achievers, they forget to mention those who have made it all happen at local, regional and national levels – our volunteers.

It is therefore up to us as sports administrators to put in place a plan to –

  • Recruit
  • Train / Mentor
  • Retain and
  • Reward our Volunteers

A good plan will recognise the appointment of a Volunteer Coordinator. This position will be responsible for the human resource planning, selecting, screening, orientating and rewarding of our volunteers. Running in parallel to this will be the Board / Management Committee overseeing the approval of position descriptions, policy implementation, evaluation and succession planning.

LucasSport can assist you in ensuring that you have in place a plan to retain your most valuable resource, your volunteers.
